MINISTRIES OFFERED TO PARISHIONERS

Saints Peter and Paul offers opportunities to share your talent with the Parish:

Liturgical Ministers are to be trained and commissioned for service in the parish according to the norms of the Diocese of La Crosse. Since they serve as a public witness to the faith, their lives should be conformed to the teachings of the Church giving other an example of Christ by their words and deeds. A “Ministries Schedule” is published seasonally according to the Liturgical Year. If you are interested in learning more or volunteering, please contact the Parish Office. Liturgical Ministries necessary in the life of the parish include:

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion assist the priest in making the Eucharist available to Catholics in union with God and His Church. This includes help offered during Mass when the size of the congregation exceeds the ability of the clergy to distribute in a reasonable amount of time. It also includes those who bring Holy Communion to the homebound, local nursing homes and the hospital.

Lectors proclaim the Word of God during the Mass and other liturgical ceremonies of the church. Familiarity with the scriptures is beneficial to this service offered to the people of God.

Altar Servers assist the priest in the sanctuary before, during and after Mass. They may be trained and scheduled beginning in the Fourth Grade. They may also be called on to assist during the Mass for weddings and funerals.

Ushers assist the assembly of the faithful during the Mass. They welcome those attending, especially visitors who may not be familiar with the facilities, take up the collections when appropriate during Mass and assist with any emergencies that may occur while the congregation is gathered.
