From the Pastor's Desk:

April 28th, 2024

My Dear Parishioners,

On this Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time, the

readings speak both of the needy people's

cry for help and God answering them

through the compassionate ministry of other

people.

The passage of Job accurately describes the

depression Job was feeling. He was almost at

the point of giving up.

In the Gospel, Jesus is pictured as He cares

for the sick, the injured, and those needing

help. We also have a glimpse of His source of

strength in doing His ministry - His quiet time

of being in relationship with His Father.

Jesus' ministry is the best example of God's

hand at work in our lives. During His human

existence on earth, Jesus not only preached

the Good News in Word,

He also demonstrated the Good News by compassionately healing and touching broken lives. He knew that proclaiming the Good News in Word and action was His mission. Yet, as every missionary knows, Jesus needed to be renewed so He could share more of the Good

News. Thus, He turned to His Father in pray-

er. His relationship with His Father was the

food that sustained Him and empowered

Him to keep preaching the Good News in

Word and in action. We need to do as Jesus

did, go away and spend quiet time with God.

God can, and will, do great things through

us, for God is all powerful and there is

nothing God cannot do.

May you know the touching hand of God in

your life, and may you be an instrument in

the Lord Jesus' hand as He reaches out to

others through you. Amen!

God Bless You,

Father George, MSFS

Eucharistic Revival for the

week of April 28th-Fifth Sunday of Easter

A Minute with Jesus:

Confession-a preparation for receiving the Eucharist

The best way to prepare to receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist is by going to Confession (also known as the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Penance).

We want to receive Him with a clean heart.

If it is not possible to go to Confession before receiving Jesus, make a sincere Act of Contrition in your heart,

and as always pray with sincerity the prayer at Mass,

 “I confess to Almighty God...”

A sin that is mortal-serious or grave-requires Sacramental

Confession before receiving Holy Communion. If you are not

sure about this, speak with a priest.

Let’s pray this right now and every day this week:

Jesus, please give me the grace to be truly sorry for my sins.

This week read how God calls us out of darkness into His

own wonderful light in 1Peter 2: 9-10.

LEAVING A LEGACY

Reminder: Planned Giving – Leaving a Legacy, Wills, Bequests and Endowments: We have inherited such treasures from our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, those whose shoulders we stand on today. Now it is our turn to make sure future generations can enjoy the reverence and beauty of a well-maintained parish. Leveraging the Capital Campaign and providing parishioners with information on Endowments, Trusts and Bequests are just a few ways a parish can help prepare for its future.  Please let us know if you would like more information.
